Delhi Driving

I am a great Delhi driver!!

That's because I have figured the workings of this field i.e roads of Delhi.

Some tips:
  • When approaching a jam from side lane into main artery, or inversely, aim the nose of your car into any bit of space. Once the nose is in the body will follow.

  • Lane driving: Don't mistake this to mean that you stick to the 3 lanes, marked on the road. Lane means, one set by the car in the front. (Common mistake by new comers).

  • Lane switching: Move, inch by inch, to the direction of the lane of your choice. No sudden moves. They won't be appreciated. People will look at you as you are an 'imbecile'. Polite & subtle moves, will be better for the car and your confidence.

  • Be interactive: Smile, when you need a squeeze in, when trying 'nose first in'. This applies across the board, to men & women. I have always given way, whenever some body has smiled or asked. Like-wise, I have always gotten in too. (though some may go beyond the charter, and follow you home). This can be ended with a quick glare. No probs!!

  • If you are stopped by traffic cop, & you have an outstation car registration = non- Delhi number, Run away from cop!!. First instinct should be to run-away, if possible. Smile when doing so. They can be very understanding, though I have been chased a few times, but some how, I always managed to run. However: Don't do this, if in a jam, or approaching jam.

All the above-said apart, have an attitude of: 'It was destined'. Followed by, 'what ever happens, happens for the best'.
